Thin square magnetic snaps use a square face and prong attachment for bag and cover projects that need a relatively shallow closure. They differ from bulky decorative square locks in both structure and installation.

The published RC-ES1420 and RC-ES1820 references have 14 and 18 mm nominal sizes with a 2 mm female-part thickness. That thickness is not the total closed height of the installed pair.

A low-profile square snap for flat flaps

Confirm the complete drawing, including corner profile, mating size and prong spacing. The material options differ by component and variant, so specify the required finish and substrate rather than assuming that the entire set is one metal.

Position the square face against the flap edge before cutting slots. Use the matching washers and suitable support behind soft material. During sample inspection, check corner clearance, face alignment and whether the lining covers the formed prongs without creating a raised spot.

Choose the mating halves, backing components and attachment dimensions as a set. State the finished material thickness, including lining and reinforcement, and identify the visible finish required for each side.

Confirm the component materials and magnet option on the selected drawing and quotation. Similar-looking variants can differ in body depth or attachment geometry. Send authorized artwork if a custom mark is needed, and approve its position on a sample before ordering.

Quality checks and sampling

Inspect the complete installed sample for alignment, loose movement, finish damage and interference with the lining. Open and close it in the direction used by the finished product. If retention is a specified requirement, agree the measurement method and acceptance criteria for that assembly.
