Removable Push-Pin Curtain Magnets for Light-Gap Closing

Richarms removable push-pin curtain magnets hold curtain panels together so light does not come through the gap between them. The pin pushes through the curtain fabric and locks into the magnetic cap, so there is no sewing and no drilling. When the curtain needs washing or the position needs changing, the magnet is simply pulled off.

We make them in three diameters, 17 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm, and in two configurations for different curtain layouts. Pins come in a long and a short version so the magnet can suit both thin and thicker curtain fabrics.

Push-pin curtain magnet sizes 17 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm with single-magnet and double-magnet sets

Two Configurations

Double-magnet pair (for center-opening curtains)

Each set has a magnet on each curtain panel. When the two panels meet in the middle, the magnets attract each other and close the gap. Use this version for split curtains that open from the center.

Single magnet + metal plate (for single-panel curtains and shower curtains)

The magnet is fixed on the curtain and a self-adhesive steel plate is stuck on the wall, window frame or bathroom surface where the curtain edge should stay. Use this version for single-panel curtains and shower curtains that need to stay against one side.

Locking Cap

The pin is held by a locking cap rather than a butterfly clutch. A butterfly clutch can work loose when the curtain is opened and closed many times; the locking cap is designed to stay on until you pull it off.

How to Install

  1. Decide where the panels should meet and mark the positions on both panels.
  2. Push the pin through the curtain fabric from the back.
  3. Press the magnetic cap onto the pin until it locks.
  4. Close the curtain and check that the magnets line up. To remove, pull the cap away from the pin.

For center-opening curtains, fixing the magnets slightly in from the leading edge, on a fold of the curtain, can help the panels overlap and close the gap. Test the position on your own curtain before fixing several sets.

Choosing the Right Size and Pin

  • Size. Larger diameters give a larger contact area and a higher maximum pull (11 N, 12 N and 16 N for 17, 20 and 25 mm). Choose 17 mm for lighter curtains and a smaller look, and 20 mm or 25 mm for heavier panels or where a firmer close is needed.
  • Pin length. Use the short pin for thin fabrics and sheers, and the long pin for thicker blackout or lined curtains. If you are not sure, send us a fabric sample and we will suggest a pin.
  • Number of sets. Tall curtains usually need more than one set along the edge. Space them so the panels stay closed from top to bottom.

Bathroom and Humid Rooms

The push-pin magnets are also used on shower curtains to stop the curtain from blowing inward and to keep the edge against the wall. They are intended for long-term use in bathrooms. Because the magnets are removable, take them off before the curtain goes into the washing machine.

Non-Magnetic Version for Buttons and Straps

The same push-pin fitting is also made without a magnet. In this version it works as a removable garment button, for example on denim, or as a button for curtain tie straps. The cap can be customized with your design.

Perguntas frequentes

Do the magnets damage the curtain?

The pin passes through the fabric weave and leaves a small hole when removed. Nothing is sewn or glued. Check the position on a hidden part of the curtain first if the fabric is delicate.

Which configuration should I choose?

Choose the double-magnet pair for curtains that close in the middle. Choose the single magnet with metal plate for single-panel curtains and shower curtains that should stay against a wall or frame.

Can they go in the washing machine?

No. They are designed to be removed. Take them off before washing the curtain and put them back afterwards.

Can you add our logo?

Yes. A logo can be added to the cap for orders from 1,000 pcs. Retail-ready packaging is also available.
